A walk in sunshine

“Summer afternoon—summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.”
― Henry James
It cannot be summer forever but sometimes I wish it could. Today I was able to get in a couple of miles walking along the beach and the air felt so good, the sea air smelled so fresh and the sun was glorious. It felt great and I didn't want the day to end.
The sun sunk down behind the horizon sooner than it did just the day before. I drove home as if racing against the sunset. I wanted to walk Tessa before dark. I had to laugh at myself. Why did it matter after all. Certainly Tessa wouldn't care. That's just it though, that feeling that you have to cram into one day all the things you managed to do in the daylight hours of summer. It takes some adjusting. When the clocks get set back in a couple of weeks, the sun will be bright in the mornings and I guess (although it goes against my natural body clock) the mornings will become more apart of our days.

I managed to get this photo along my walk on the boardwalk this afternoon.
