The stray berry

Greenwich Park is so beautiful at this time of year with its mass of autumn colour, this tree was no exception but can you spot the stray berry?

Actually this is part of the Observatory and is one of the world's earliest public time signals, distributing time to ships on the Thames and many Londoners since 1833. Each day, at 12.55, the time ball rises half way up its mast. At 12.58 it rises all the way to the top. At 1pm exactly, the ball falls. As long as you only want to know the time at 1 o'clock its pretty useful!

I am sorry I have not been able to get back into Blip in the way I had hoped but I will dip in from time to time. xx
