El Norteño

Blip summarizes well the experiences I had when visiting the northern part of Nicaragua - where los Norteños live - it's a cultural part of Nicaragua in itself - with its typical "chico de campos", their music and food, cigars from Esteli, Cuban immigrants, European conquistadors... a typical Nica Mezcla!

There is a great European influence, as this is where the Spanish conquistadors and later European settlers (19th century) decided to build their cities because of the better climate and fertile soils. It's a lovely environment with running rivers, mountain passes and the amazing horseback riding experiences....
