Piddinghoe Lake

I had a busy morning, doing numerous wash loads after being away last week, had a nice chat with Steve on Facebook, and then went to the supermarket to do my food shop. I came back with a little more than I'd gone for, including a potted Christmas tree and four bottles of champagne. The champagne was on offer reduced from £24 to £10, so I got two for Christmas and two for New Year, and the Christmas trees were much cheaper than at the garden centre. I'd planned on getting one with roots so that I can put in a pot in our porch and then keep it in the garden after Christmas - I just didn't plan on getting it today.

Once I'd put my shopping away and had my lunch, I went to meet Chrissy for a walk to Piddinghoe which is a very pretty little village. It was a lovely walk through farmland and along the side of the river, and we carried on into Newhaven. The sun was starting to set on our way back and the colours were stunning, as were the reflections on the lake. It was amazing how quickly the colours changed whilst walking from one side of the lake to the other!

It was almost dark by the time we got to the tree lined country lane leading back to the farm and there were lots of pheasants in the trees. They started calling as we approached, and then flew out of the trees which was a fantastic sight due to the amount of them. We walked about 6 or 7 miles in total and were out for 3 hours, so I've got my feet up now and Louis is fast asleep on the sofa :-)
