De drie fleschjes

Never was a drink so well needed! This morning I got up at 3am and drove to the airport, to start my trip to Amsterdam. Unfortunately the second I walked into the Departures area I realised that my trusty passport had decided to stay at home! Living 45mins from the airport, with only 1 hour until check in closed, I knew it was game over, no flight for me. After some frantic searching from the Easyjet staff to find me some kind of way to get there through another UK airport later in the morning, I had to give up and go to Plan B. I drove home, got the passport, booked onto the next flight from Dublin, filled the car with petrol and drove the 2 hours to Dublin airport. Even Michael Schumacher would have had trouble beating me on that trip, and I made it to Dublin by 8am. As it turned out my flight was delayed by two hours due to the air traffic control problems in England, and a couple of hundred people in a queue for a replacement bus service from Schiphol into Amsterdam topped off a nightmare of a trip.

But I eventually made it, 12 hours later, and was reunited with my best friend Luce. We spent a lovely evening in the Christmas market, getting a little bit drunk on mulled wine with generous shots of liqueur, then finished the night in De Drie Fleschjes, which can only be described as a Gin Palace! Absolutely loved it. A great end to a very eventful day :)
