Cirl Buntings

I can't work out if I like this photo or not. It is amazing how much a bird that effectively looks like a Canary with lots of yellow and some chestnut had blended into a background of some stone, sticks and Autumn leaves
This is the Devon bird speciality and this particular bird was coming to feed that is regularly put out for the species. To be honest with the wind and rain of the last three days, they need all the help they can get.
I love the French name for this species - Bruant Zizi - a much more evocative name sounding like some upper class courtesan of the early twentieth century....
