Behind door number 16: beard envy.
Today we hit the shops for a spot of Christmas decoration shopping and came across this fella in Ka De We. I don't know who he is meant to be but he has one hell of a beard!
Ka De We is apparently the biggest and most famous department store in Germany and before the wall was brought down residents from West Germany yearned to visit the heavenly store. We weren't disappointed but luckily, only paying for hand luggage meant we could only browse! After the shops we caught the tube to our next Christmas market at Potsdammer Platz! We were very disappointed to find the toboganning was closed but after a beer, roasted chestnuts and currywurst we donned our skates and hit the ice rink to burn some calories to make room for tea!
Later we caught the tube to what was apparently the lively area of the city (not on a Monday night!). We stumbled upon a gem (the only place open). We were clearly the only English speaking in the place and our very mini phrase book gave us no help in translating the menu. We pretty much closed our eyes and dropped our finger down and ordered! We both ended up with different pork dishes but both were beautiful!
We were both full and tired but thought we could squeeze in another gluhwein only to find the Christmas market had closed. Struggling to find a pub near the hotel we hit the hotel bar taking in a few pointers from a German fella away on business. Checkpoint Charlie tomorrow, it is then!
