"Wombat Rock"
I always feel very blessed to live where I live and today, once again I was reminded why it is so special. At the end of our land lies the Kanimbla Valley and we have a 600 metre bush track on the property that takes us out to a wonderful place. We call it "Wombat Rock". The image is the view we see when we sit on the rock and look out towards Mt Blackheath on Shipley Plateau.
Sometimes when I've been sitting on the rock I've been lucky enough to see the Wedge Tail Eagles circling. They have been known to nest in the escarpment opposite the rock.
When I was making my way down to the rock I thought I was astonished at the incredibly clear chorus of birds. I was surrounded by Whip Birds, Black Cockatoos, Rosellas and a bird I didn't recognise at all. What brought a huge smile to my face was the realisation that I was simply listening to a Liar Bird practising his bird calls. How lucky was I.
