U-Bahn München: 27/100 Goetheplatz

Munich underground: 27/100 Goetheplatz

After yesterday's blip of the Giselastraße stop, today's is along the same line (U3 & U6). Goetheplatz underground station, too, was opened with the first stations in 1971 and was the southern terminus of the U3 and U6 lines (which made up Munich's whole underground network then) until 1975. The station and the adjacent tunnel were built much earlier, though: they were part of pre-WWII plans to build a north-south suburban train (S-Bahn) tunnel. Construction began in 1938 with Adolf Hitler turning the first sod. Due to war related scarcity of materials the works were discontinued in 1941. The tunnel was then used as a bomb shelter and fell into oblivion after the war. When the construction of the underground network began in 1965 the tunnel was excavated again and integrated into the network. Today the special history of the station is still visible, as it is 135 metres long (15 metres longer than all other stations) and there is still bomb shelter singage on the walls of the adjacent tunnel.

Another tryout of my new lens. At f/10 (this shot) the sharpness is quite good in my eyes. Yesterday's blip at f/22 was a little blurry. Chromatic abberations are easily manageable, but the lens is a rather prone to flare (center top of today's image).

I got myself a sensor cleaning kit today and took care of the dirt. It was a single dust particle on the sensor that caused the biggest problem regarding the images. The mirror was a little greasy, too, but that didn't show on the images - of course I cleaned it anyway.
