Birthday in Craster

A rare shot of just the four of us on our way back from Dunstanburgh Castle.

This is the weekend I celebrated my 40th birthday with my family in Craster. We arrived yesterday but I didn't take a photo! Mum and Dad also arrived yesterday and Charles and Kirsty arrived today. We had lunch in the Jolly Fisherman pub, famous for it's crab sandwiches and beef dripping chips. Then we went back to the cottage/house (called Craster Reach) to wait until the rain went off and have some birthday cake.

When the rain was off we walked a muddy walk to Dunstanburgh Castle and back. Just the right distance to get us ready for dinner back at the cottage, an Italian themed three course meal courtesy of Anne and Kirsty. We had a go at playing 'Mr & Mrs' after dinner.

Craster Reach was very smart, nicely and expensively done out. We stayed in a room that had two singles joined to make a super-king which was huge! It was more than enough for all four of us. Conor did join us when he woke but Orla was happy in her blow-up bed. The cottage was literally 100 yards from the pub which allowed me and Dad and Charles to sneak out for a pint before dinner and enjoy the nice log fire in there.
