Shagya Arabian
Officially named "Koheilan Jakab" but known to us as Sultan, born 2002 in Hungary. He came to us by chance, more or less a rescue case. He was destined for slaughter if no one bought him within a few days. Our friend Christa (been Bliped a few times) heard of the problem and 18 months ago he landed up here.
Like all pure bred Shagyas, his bloodline can be traced back to the original studs in the Austro-Hungarian Empire of the 19th century. One of the most important founding stallions being named "Shagya", born in Syria in 1810. We have not done much research on the pedigree, so can't claim any famous forefathers or connections to D.H. Lawrence
Shagyas are however not purebred Arabians (our Aysr is one) and sometimes they are refered to as Anglo-Arabians. They are larger, heavy boned and not so "elegant" (showy) as the pure Arabian, bred to be a cavalry horse and good in harness.
Like the Arabian lots of stamina and it's very difficult to give him as much exercise as he needs. Result: he is a rascal, always looking for new games and adventures and generally annoying the other two.
Teeth doing well. Many, many thanks for all your well wishes - they worked!
