At 1 kg he's strong enough to fight off a stoat, but apparently too many of these youngsters have fallen foul of all sorts of accidents, so the plan is to grow them on here until they mature a bit more.

The take home message from today is that the NZ kiwi is now at the point where it cannot survive on the mainland without full management.
