Bumps in the Road

Giving it his best shot

I sometimes wonder what Nikki and the wee man get up to while I'm at work. Now I know...

The wee man had his MMR vaccine today (an immunisation vaccine against measles, mumps and rubella). According to the NHS website, the vaccine works by triggering the immune system to produce antibodies against measles, mumps and rubella so if the wee man comes into contact with one of the diseases, the immune system will recognise it and immediately produce the antibodies needed to fight it. The side effects of the MMR vaccine are usually mild but we’ll be keeping a close eye on him over the next couple of days.

For the third successive day, the wee man has managed to sleep in until almost 8am. At first I thought he might be coming down with something but I’m now, albeit tentatively, beginning to think that maybe this is a new phase… Typically we put him to bed around 7pm, so sleeping through until 8am is a huge amount of shut eye. Granted, he occasionally grumbles in the early evening but a quick cuddle and lullaby normally settles him straight down.

In other news, Grandma can finally say goodbye to those nasty bites
of hers. She still has to return to the hospital for the result of her biopsy but the stitches are out and the last of the strapping finally came off today. What a relief!
