The "City..."
From over the River.
I couldn't manage the Northern Lights - so many fab Blips up right now - but can manage Southern (London) Lights!
Having taken four lenses to London with the full-frame D700, that only cover wideangle and fisheye, two of them being VERY big and heavy, plus the not insignificant Tamron SP 70-300mm, I actually (on purpose) went without what the majority of photographers use most - the "standard" zoom.
So, in effect, I was without lenses between 36 and 69mm, BUT I had popped the little nifty Nikkor 50mm f1.4 into a coat pocket. This was supposed to be for low-light candids, mostly of which I simply didn't do - a currently playing up and very big and heavy D700 is not ideal for hiding in the shadows...
Anyway, the 50mm fixed standard lens will be most folk's singularly best performing lens. So, here it is, at about its sweet aperture setting, unsharpened. On the tripod, of course. Bask in the detail on LARGE. The original, un-compressed original absolutely sparkles with HD detail.
