Gem Bridge

Mono for a dull, wet and grey day.

This is Gem Bridge which opened in 2012 at a cost of £2.7m. It replaced a viaduct built by Brunel and demolished in 1965. Now a part of National Cycle Network 27 linking Ilfracombe in North Devon with Plymouth in the South. This new bridge is 79 feet above the River Walkham. Brunel's bridge was another 59 feet higher. It is about half a mile from Grenofen Tunnel which I blipped here
