a happy place
It sure looks like we are all in "a happy place" doesn't it?
Pictured: my friend Kathy Pikera, Asia and me -with my blonde hair (that I am getting used to!) next to my husband, Crazy Steve as they call him at Lucas Boatworks. We are enjoying the swinging bench Dave Lucas recently hung up right next to the world famous Tiki Hut. In fact, I called Dave over & asked him to take this picture! Thanks, Dave. I love it!
I paddled over to Lucas Boatworks again because I heard "kayak kathy" was coming by, she emailed me! It was a bit more difficult to paddle the short distance between our house and LB because it was a Saturday and there was more boat traffic on the usually fairly deserted Braden River. Even if a small boat goes fast they can make a fairly big wake for a tiny single man canoe! But I used the skills Steven taught me and I do wear a life jacket even though you could stand up most anywhere, it's so shallow. It was windy too but that just made me work my arms a little harder. Plus, Steven always ties the canoe to Chelsea for the ride home : ) no work!
It was a lovely afternoon, we got to see the progress Steven is making on his catboat, and Kathy offered me a Barking Squirrel Lager -wow, that was good. It had been a long time since I had a beer of any kind and I enjoyed that. I went inside the Lucas' home and visited with Helen and the "quilt girls" during one off their regular meetings when they work on projects overlooking the river, what a gorgeous view. I took a bunch more photos if you are interested in peeking into our life here on the suncoast of Florida, on the banks of a river, with lots of water and boat building. -View the photos here.
We are for the most part in a happy place - and we try to stay that way!
