Two volcanoes
Another late blip. Following a full on day at the hospital, I have had to spend some hours after getting home sorting emails, and making appointments and the like. Then helping S with the dinner, which I have enjoyed greatly (I am the meat cook in the family).
Now, finally,I can post the photo I took from the top floor of the North Shore Hospital, looking south east over two volcanoes.
In the background is Rangitoto Island. Auckland's most recently formed volcanic cone which is nearly a perfect circle.
In the foreground is Lake Pupuke; a deep volcanic crater filled with water and surrounded by the caldera . As can be seen clearly in this photo, Pupuke is separated from the Hauraki Gulf by a relatively narrow strip of land.
Pupuke is deep, cold, and has a lot of weed. A not insignificant number of people have drowned in this lake. Swimmers are better advised to cross the land to the edge of the gulf, as that water is much warmer.
Tomorrow, I have a full day at the office; trying to do in one day what I have been accustomed to doing in a couple of days.
