Matt Parker and his binary scarf

We went to see a stand-up show by Matt Parker 'Stand-up Maths' - where he combined the art of stand-up with mathematics in an interesting way.

Matt is a university teacher i mathematics education, originally Australian, but living now in the UK.

His mother had knitted him this scarf as a Christmas present; its pattern is made out of binary symbols, those famous 1s and 0s. You can decipher the pattern, it is a message, something that Matt had said about maths. Interesting - but so far away from my life experience, unfortunately...
