Monomonday Metal

Todays blip for monomonday metal being run c/o http://www.blipfoto.com/ffredsmum
One of Northwich's bridges, crossing the River Weaver - this is the younger one by a year "Town Bridge" the other about 600 yards up stream being "Hayhurst Bridge".

The bridges were the first two electrically-powered swing bridges in Great Britain and the first to be built on floating pontoons in G.B. to counteract the local salt mining subsidence. They were designed by Colonel John Saner and built by A. Handyside & Company (Derby & London), originally built to carry horse traffic they had to be strengthened and refurbished completed in 1998
They are both painted black and white to match the towns Victorian timber framed buildings which look a lot older than they are, the idea being that the frames could be jacked up as the ground around them subsided.

Both have one way traffic operations supposedly to reduce traffic jams but you tell that to the dorks sitting at the opposite end of this bridge waiting for a gap in traffic coming down "Winni Hill" so they can swap lanes for a junction a 1/4 mile plus down the road haha
Having got the card out of the camera just noticed the car had photo bombed me doh! concentrating on the rivet line - its not a mistake its a learning opportunity according to one of my old bosses and I had lots of learning opportunities at the time :-)

Have a great week and who knows the sun may turn up as well so get out in them yellow fields and catch some brightness
