Lissett Memorial
This interesting memorial is on the site of a disused airfield, where a wind farm consisting of 12 turbines has been erected.
The developers of the site paid for the sculpture, which was designed by Peter Naylor, a local artist and is constructed from 3 sheets of steel plate. The facial features are just holes in the steel. The names of the fallen airmen are engraved on the figures torsos.
Interestingly, the wind turbines are all identified by nicknames given to the individual aircraft and include, 'The Menace', 'Minnie the Moocher', 'Blondie' and 'Zombie'.
