Outnumbered
In Hayes, south of Bromley, Junior Reds Spartans under-13s played Petts Wood, and lost 7-1 - at half-time the score was 2-1.
These bare facts hide a much bigger story, for Spartans had just nine players (and two of these were injured or ill). Petts Wood had a full team of eleven plus substitutes, and were top of the SELKent B League West. But, despite the two-player disadvantage, the Spartans ran their socks off and kept the game competitive until well into the second half, when the boys eventually ran out of energy.
I like this shot: it kind of fits like a jigsaw - there are no overlaps of the players in shot and the player on the ball is outnumbered ... as the Spartans were all game.
