Clark Tales

Two Years...

Two years to put a shelf up...well that's what it bloody felt like today. Virn and I have been decorating her room. She has grand designs for her house, they're actually in a portfolio. One of which was this shelf, with the junction box for all the wiring. There is still conduit for the wiring and a picture rail to be hung, made from copper piping, which will run across the curtains to work as a curtain pole too...its all very elaborate for what will be known as "The Engine Room". Last weekend we stripped the room back to the bare bones and began the painting and had my dad over to sort the electrics. Yesterday we did some of the second coat. Today, Sarah came to help with the rest of second coat while Virn and I tackled the wall from hell, to try and fit the shelf for the TV too!

I'm happy to say after a drill, electric saw, 8 holes, lots of poly-filla and my jabbering technique (jabbing a screwdriver into the hole) we managed to break through the lath to start the engineering of how to put the shelf up! We decided to actually super glue a thin back board to the wall (to cover the ridiculous mess we had made of it) this then provided the correct sized holes for the butterfly screw fixings to hold the shelf in the wall! It actually took us ALL day. Thank god it worked!

Post shelf war, it was time for Domino's, Short Circuit 2 (the best of the two) and a well deserved pint of the "Birds and the Bees". Two years ago today Virn and I met for a drink in a pub...I am so glad I am still having awesome drinks, in awesome pubs with her, my Bestie!

(Hopes while writing this I don't get a picture message of the shelf on the floor...)
