Maibaum

One of the churches in town celebrated their German heritage today with their annual Maifest. We had beautiful weather so decided to go out on time to see them raise the Maibaum, which I now know is the German word for Maypole. The children and men were dressed in costume and made a small parade by carrying the pole to the spot where it was to be raised. I was disappointed that there was no dancing around the Maibaum. We had a delicious bratwurst and a bottle of German beer.
We have had a full, busy weekend. I did get my flower pots planted today, so it is really looking like spring around here!
