Nuno Silva - Salisbury Festival - In the Rain
Salisbury Arts Festival 2014 kicked off proper today.
Under the towering Salisbury Cathedral Spire and with increasing cloud, then incessant rain washed out the crowds, played merry hell with the sound and lighting equipment and cutting short many performances, the final display was a powerful and sensual mix of fire and passion, called Soul of Fado, from this group from Portugal.
Go LARGE
"Sensual contemporary dance soul-baring Portuguese fado and a flaming gondola are the ingredients in this fire and dance spectacular, infused with the steamy atmosphere of the Lisbon Old Quarter".
(They couldn't make the flaming gondola 'flaming' due to the weather)
I'm under a tree, with the Festival official photographer, Gary, who has the sense of humour of a wooden plank and Jon, a highly paid freelance, who has one hundred thousand times less humour than Gary. They both had five grand Canon bodies, my poor little 'consumer' £500 Nikon, despite being weather-sealed, finally gave up the ghost and won't now work.
I couldn't take any of the firework finale, but did get this, out the many that my plucky little Nikon did manage to capture. Need to dry out and warm up myself, too.
Lens is Sigma EX 70-200mm f2.8
