Another day, another pub

Where to go for lunch? That was the question. First-off we thought of The Eagle carvery in Glasthule, but then switched allegiance to a place across the road from there which we'd tried before and hadn't been happy with. Ever ready to give people and places a second chance, that's where we went. Let's just say that we were right the first time, and we won't be going back to Weafer and Cooper. It started well, and the staff are very friendly, but then it took a long time to clean a table for us, then much longer to bring the drinks we'd asked for, then age to ask us what we wanted to eat, and then a ridiculously long while for the food to arrive (we had to ask a second time for both drinks and food, while people who came in well after us were served and had left. We hadn't checked the time we'd arrived at their door, but we estimated that it the best part of an hour before our food arrived. Okay, so they apologised, and didn't charge for the drinks, but we still left very annoyed and unsatisfied and determined not to darken their door again.

We should have gone to the carvery across the road, that's for sure. We made up for that error by stopping in for some liquid refreshment to calm us down. It was pleasantly quiet, and we had a good chat over a couple of drinks (so did the guy across from us who's in the blip). Coffee in Carl's, and then home to watch last night's Wallander, and that was it for the day.
