Mr and Mrs Miccoli
Continuing my Italy adventure!
Day 1
Meet Mr and Mrs Mariano Miccoli. I'm not sure Sarah would thank me for putting like that, shes a very independant and driven woman in her own right. She is head of a language school in London whilst Mariano works on Canary Wharf. Obviously I've always been very close to Sarah as she's the closest cosuin to my own age, but ever since I met Mazza (as I affectionately know him) we've been good friends.
I was honoured to be asked to be a witness on this wonderful day. My job was relatively straightforward, organise people into cars, sit at the front of the church, stand right next to sarah as she said 'I do'..... you know how it is.
I spent most the day either bursting with pride or burtsing my buttons after a fine fill of food. The traditional Roman Catholic wedding is like nothing I've ever experienced (or will again). Food was on hand all day, and by 'food' I don't mean soggy sandwiches and a few sausage rolls - we had Octopus, Lobster Pasta, Freshly spun Mozzarella, Steak, traditional Barese (one from Bari) pasta, cold meats, battered veg.... it was endless. Course after course came out over a period of hours all washed down nicely with endless bottles of red wine, white wine and champagne. I can confidently say I had more champagne on this one day than I'd enjoyed collectively over the course of my entire life.
I met some wonderful people such as Marianos closest friend Alberto. He barely spoke English, I barely speak Italian but somehow we chatted for thirty minutes about football. A majority of my family were there too, old and young. Perhaps most importantly I had Fe by my side looking radiant and bouncing from family to friend with all the skills of the most beautiful social butterfly.
Today was a good day.
