Poppy Crop

For the last few years, near where I work in North Lincolnshire, there have been these fields of lilac poppies obviously grown as a crop, my guess is for poppy seeds..but if anyone can shed any more light on it I would be interested to know. Not the best light for this but as I am not out that way for the next few days I didn't want to miss the blooms.
