First fruit picking outing.
In the raspberry canes at Garson Farm. D thought this was a great idea though it took awhile for him to get the hang of it. Some time after we'd started down our first row of raspberry canes, I asked to see his punnet - he held up the empty blue box with a slightly confused expression - why did Mummy want to see that? D had been happily walking along eating raspberries, not collecting them! It took regular reminders but eventually he got the hang of it and collected as well as ate.
We used to come fruit picking at this farm when I was a child and I have many happy memories of being fruit stained, hot and dusty, and later at home Mum making summer pudding, gooseberry fool, shortbread to go with strawberries and cream. Sad to see that there are now notices telling people not to eat excessive amounts as they pick - they weren't there before, can people no longer be trusted to be sensible?
