Beautiful orchids
Another great day in the capital. This morning we met up with Pleach at the Royal Botanical Gardens. We enjoyed a cold drink in the sun and then had a wander through the wild garden with plants used for medical purposes, the Rock garden and the Chinese garden ,each one special in their own way. It was lovely to meet you Pleach and thank you for the little thyme plant from Highgrove which will grow happily next to the Queen Mothers pelargonium :)
We went our separate ways and Mike and myself went to see the Global photographs and the wonderful orchid display. Sooo many beautiful orchids and the smell was wonderful too :)
We had seen some funny, little moorhen babies earlier. So comical and they really are ugly ducklings. One was balancing on a water lily leaf, another walking along a floating twig and one of the Dads swam off with a great big bit of weed.
Back to Leith to change to our new hotel for the night, The Malmasion . We have a nice room and can just about see the water. Everywhere is painted a dark colour so you would nt see a thing if you walked in with sun glasses on ! Mike was in one once and there was a powercut so he had to use his tiny phone torch to find his way around.
Just had a tasty steak and sorbet for pud. Off to Holyrood park tomorrow. Hope it stays dry, a few heavy showers mid afternoon today.
