Into Sepia
In summer linens,
From colour to sepia,
Until closing time.
Taken at the Beamish Museum - which I have to say, was much better than I expected. No mawkish sentimentality and ye olde signs everywhere, just well constructed use of houses, cars, trams, trains, and otems to create different locations with the feeling of what life may have been like (only probably a lot cleaner ...). ...The staff wear period clothes, but don't pretend to be some character from olden times ... they just go about their daily task in the manner they would have then..... vegetables are grown, bread baked, land tended ....
One of the most interesting place for me was 1900's print shop ... with printing presses and blocks still used to print posters and handbills for use in the museum.
Thanks for comments so far .... sorry for lack of response on my part ... wifi sporadic and time is limited, so am turning off comments while on holiday.
