Alaska day 6 Breaching Humpbacks!

Morning ride in the zodiac to the rapids in Ford’s Terror (only the tide was low so no problem) . Saw harbor porpoise in the bay. Headed out Endicott Arm, took a walk on a beach near thistle ledge creek and saw lots of tracks! wolf, bear, moose!!! and Beautiful flowers.. off again, lots of Stellar sea lions on sunset island and then the BREACHING Humpback WHALES!! Oh my I had to put a bunch on flickr because it was such a fantastic show. Noone knows why they really do this,, to rid their skin of parasites? or… just for fun!! also some spy hopping where they put their eyes out and look around. ….and tail and pectoral flipper slapping — who knows why they do this either, but it looks like it’s lots of fun for them. To our anchorage in Hobart’s bay late again…
