A Very Different Day in the Office

Made a visit to Basingstoke signaling centre today; it's really three signal boxes in one.

Firstly the main panel covers the South Western Mainline from Pirbright to Waller's Ash and Grately (pictured). The second panel "Dorset Coast" covers the far end of the mainline from Branksome to Dorcester. The third panel "West of England" covers the line from Tisbury down through Yeovil and Axminster to Whimple.

Very interesting discussions with all the signallers on duty, I was there for both the early and late turns along with the local ops manager.
