War torn

...Hackney. The Queen Elizabeth Children's Hospital on Hackney Road has laid derelict for ages and was the subject of many campaigns to try and save it. But the developers won and the bulldozers have moved in.

These sliced open buildings are absolutely fascinating. In Herculaneum (next to Pompeii) we could see a Roman bedside table still in position in the first floor room of a partly destroyed house. Amazing.

No bedside tables here yet but I don't suppose it'll be long before people are choosing their preferred worktops and paint colours. Let's hope the whole thing's not a monstrosity.

Addendum: thanks to Arachne I have entered this fella into Sarum Stroller's Derelict Thursday. Because that's where it belongs.
