Toad

I really prefer,
Gimlet-eyed warty glory,
To Larkin's squat toad.

....
A day behind myself ... this little chap was disturbed by some garden work going on - he took refuge on top of a railway sleeper "wall" before leaping in an ungainly fashion down to the ground beneath ... tried to get him in mid-jump, but it was more of a flop and I felt his dignity must be maintained.

In case you are wondering what the last line refers to it is this poem by Philip Larkin.

That squat toad has been sitting on my head all weekend ....

Thanks for all the comments on my gothic mist yesterday ... it even made it to the spotlight ...

I have a Sunday blip poem written, but haven't looked at the pictures yet .... so it will have to appear on Monday .... one of these days I'll catch up.
