Wherever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home) was written by Marvin Gaye, Barrett Strong and Norman Whitfield and was first recorded by Marvin Gaye in 1962 which was two years before I was born so I only remembered it by Paul Young's version of the song which was number 1 for 3 weeks in July 1983.
