when it comes to the world cup, i think the korean attitude can be described as "go big, or go home" i.e. lets cram a few hundred thousand people into a blocked off section of the biggest street in the city, and have a gigantic party. liberal attitudes towards public inebriety also contribute to general raucousness. sure the outcome could've been better, but i doubt anyone went home disappointed...
