Go for it!

Having perused spodzone's journal, I've decided to stay with black and white for a while.

So, where to start? Some time ago a guest of mine, a friend, suggested I take a real self portrait of myself as I do tend to appear in loony shots!

Here then is my first attempt. I've included some interesting background (but don't, whatever you do, mention the ivy!).

I've tried to capture my best side but a bit of the other has crept in.

How can I improve my monochrome studies? Suggestions please!
