Colourful corner, Wicklow Town

Perhaps today marked the start of a return to normality after the holiday.

Carl has been very sensible and doesn't go back to work until Thursday, giving him a few days respite. He's been using the time to catch up up on some jobs and improvements around his house, and today wanted to research suitable material for a change he wants to make to the hearth in his living room. I went over to provide a tax service for the trip that needed to be made. There were two companies on the list, one of which has two branches, and both of which are down in county Wicklow.

We went first to a place in Rathnew, just outside Wicklow town. As it happened, Carl found just what he wanted there, so we had no need to check out the other one, which is in Greystones. After visiting the first supplier we continued on for a pleasant stop in Wicklow town, which is where I spotted this colourful street scene. It's a good while since I've been in Wicklow, and I really enjoyed the time we spent there. From there we took the old back road to Greystones and went for a bite to eat in the quirkily named Happy Pear café, which I remember with fondness from the time of my convalescence last year: a great place, which serves a wonderful hot dark chocolate which was worth the trip alone.

Back in Carl's we watched a couple of episodes of Ballykissangel and finished off the night with a viewing of Up in the Air, which was really enjoyable. I was back home around midnight after a good day.
