In the Pink!

The pink ferry crosses the Hamble River from Hamble to Warsash and dates back to the 12th century! According to the history books the ferry was always rowed across up until 1940. In the early days the ferry was capable of carrying horses and in 1598 'any tenant of this manor who crosses or returns by water with his horse is to be charged a half-penny for that horse or a farthing if without a horse whatever the time of the crossing'
Today it costs considerably more and passengers include commuters with their push-bikes and tourists with their cameras! They also operate a taxi service to take yachtsmen out to their boats moored in the river.

As for the pink: I'm 'tickled pink' having been awarded Photographer of the Month on another forum!!
