The longest bench in Britain

There's a new bench along the seafront at Littlehampton, which boasts the title of 'Britain's Longest'. It currently seats 300 people, and is built from wooden slats, some of which are engraved with names of people who have helped to pay for the project by buying their own piece of the bench.

The bench has also been partially funded by Gordon Roddick, husband of the late Dame Anita Roddick...a fitting tribute to an inspiring woman who came from this town. In time, the bench will grow even more (I think the intention is for it to run right along the seafront towards Rustington...possibly making it the World's Longest Bench!)
