Gnashing through the snow
This is the main road to the nearest town after it was cleared and made passable. Passable, of course, is subject to debate. The strips of asphalt that you can see are pure black ice. With the amount of snow and ice we've had, it's almost impossible to see where the road ends and the ditch begins, especially in the dark. Not for the faint-hearted. Note the swerve marks made by the car ahead of us.
My sister and her family are visiting from San Francisco this Christmas. We haven't seen each other in seven years. When she began planning their trip in the summer, I never imagined we'd have so much snow. It's the most I've ever seen in 23 years here.
