Wind At The Door
These patterns are as ephemeral as they look.
Very low temperatures last night and a stiff south east wind on the front door (with windchill it felt like -41°C) while the blind was closed plus the raised humidity indoors because the rugs were cleaned a few days ago; all those combined to produce big plumes of frost on the window of our front door this morning.
Three minutes of photographing with the shade opened, and a brief appearance by the sun and they had all begun to stream away.
In his book The Garden Freeman Patterson writes "The two single-pane windows in my house more than pay for the small heat loss by functioning as winter art exhibits."
And I guess this would also fit into this week's.2011 Challenge Macro
