Javelina And The Mexican Bird of Paradise

This looks like a pig but it is of the Peccary Family. They roam free here in Arizona and usually run in groups of 10 to 20 members. They can be dangerous. Moms give birth to usually two. They are present on a daily basis and can destroy your potted plants and other landscaping easily. Most homes in Arizona have a three to four foot wall around their patios, so as to keep these type of critters out.
I captured this mom just before she ate the flower. You find this flower, The Mexican Bird of Paradise, in most landscapes and blooms three fourths of the year. The ones in my yard grow to be six feet tall.
