The Edge of the Wold

In the spotlight

After all the rain yesterday and overnight, the atmosphere was saturated this morning. Mist usually burns off as the sun comes up, but today fog actually gathered around Arnside Knott as the sun rose through cloud. This was taken at the top of the hill, and sunlight was shafting through the spider's web. From 50 metres away the web was lit as if by a searchlight. The photo was taken close to the web to throw the background out of focus.

Remarkably after the punishment to my ears last night, they were not still ringing this morning and everything seemed to be normal. I'm not sure why Wifie has started talking so quietly though.

And it was a quiet day too. We went back on the Art Trail this afternoon, but we'd left it too late for some of the intended stops. So we spent a bit more time at Marianne Birkby's studio in Ackenthwaite, admiring her wildlife drawings and paintings.

I'm sorry I'm still way behind with comments after our trip away.
