Sunrise over Ingleborough

Well, after 3 sunset pictures in a row, something different was needed.

I watched the sunrise yesterday as the sun peeped out from the left shoulder of the mountain mass of Ingleborough. What a difference a day makes in terms of the position of sunrise and sunset, today the sun rose over the right flank of the mountain. Sunrise is also at quite a civilised time now, this was just after 0715.

Before work Brokenbanjo and I climbed up onto Whitbarrow to get a view over Foulshaw Moss. BB was keen to get some photos showing the current extent of the conifers. The Cumbria Wildlife Trust have let a contract for the final phase of tree felling, and work has recently started. This will finally close the chapter in the Forestry Commission's misadventure of planting conifers on a raised bog. It's taken a long time to put right, but now the restoration of the whole bog will be possible.

This is an early blip for me. Tonight we are going to see Julie Fowlis in the Brewery in Kendal. A rather different performer to Robin Trower who we saw a few weeks ago, and I can be confident I won't come home with ringing ears. I will catch up with comments later.
