Neist Point Lighthouse

Our last full day on Skye with the weather improving as the day went on. In the afternoon we visited Neist Point with its cliff top views of the Lighthouse. There was a group of German photographers armed with tripods, stationed along the cliff for the classic view of the lighthouse and the towering cliffs of the headland. But the light was maybe too flat for landscape shots for my liking, this could be a great place for a sunset - but we didn't see one all week. The light on the sea, on the other hand, was good for silhouette shots.

Perhaps the nearest to a sunset we had was the evening that this photo of Gus and Wifie was taken. By that time we were in the Red Roof Cafe enjoying a performance by Edwina Hayes. Doors opened at 8 pm and the concert was due to start at 8.30. She arrived at 8.31 after setting off from East Yorkshire at 9.50 am. She looked a little pale and flustered, but went on to give a brilliant performance, she has a beautiful voice, great songs and a wonderful, self deprecating sense of humour. She hadn't reckoned with the snaking ribbon of caravans and tourers holding up the traffic along Loch Lomond and elsewhere in the Highlands. Anyway, for us it was the perfect way to round off our week on Skye.
