Gala

On my daily cycle, I passed this field of dandelions and just had to go in and take a photo. Glorious!

This field, on the Moniaive side of Dunscore village, is called the Holm Field, but everybody calls it the Gala Field. The second Saturday of August is Gala Day in Dunscore and this field has a large marquee with buffet and bar, and a whole array of stalls and  amusements (all free of charge). In the middle is a fenced off area where performers (from pipe bands to dancing ducks to motorbike stunt riders) strut their stuff, with our neighbour Danny providing the PA. There's a Gala Parade with floats, fancy dress and vintage tractors, a Gala Queen chosen from P7 at the Primary School, and her PreSchool attendants. Sometimes it is a hot sunny day, sometimes we huddle under umbrellas, but it doesn't really matter - its The Gala, and everyone has fun.

I guess this year the Gala may be cancelled. The dandelions will go to seed and the field will be mown for silage. The world will carry on turning and in the meantime, the field looks amazing, especially with this blue sky.

Tonight is Bivvy Night and I’m hoping to see some meteors.

Apologies for my lack  of comments and replies to comments. As you know, all our internet comes from my phone data, and we have 4GB to last us until Thursday. So we have to prioritise! Normal service will be resumed shortly :-)
