Golden Oriole
Spent the day at Lakenheath Fen RSPB reserve, where if nothing else you should be able to hear a Golden Oriole. It is believed there are currently two males and one female on the reserve, but they are notoriously elusive as they hide mainly in the canopy of the poplar plantations. As expected we failed to see one, but listening to the beautiful fluty song was a pleasure, if a frustrating one.
RCB did manage to get himself some good shots of a Cuckoo, we also caught a glimpse of a Cetti's Warbler and were in the right place at the right time when the ringers came along for the Barn Owl chicks and the parents flew from the nest.
Today's photo though unfortunately isn't a Golden Oriole, but a Female Black-tailed Skimmer.
