New York day 1

Spent most of the day traveling to New York for a loooooooooooong weekend.

The journey was a bit of a pain in the ass as we were going via London. Things were all a bit confusing as they checked our bags all the way though at Edinburgh but did not allocate us seats on our transatlantic flight. This meant we didn't have a boarding pass which meant we couldn't transfer airside. Therefore followed a huge rush to get out of one terminal and into another at Heathrow and then some very nice people reopened the flight to get us seats as we arrived 'too late'. I think it was the fact that our bags were already on it that swung it for us... Happily we arrived exactly at the right time for Boarding and somehow got exit row seats so it wasn't all bad in the end.

When we got to New York we settled into our lovely hotel (Andaz Wall Street - highly recommend) and then checked out the nearby South Street Seaport area and desperately tried to stay awake until 10pm so as to set our body clocks to NY time for the rest of the weekend.
