Rhapsody in Blue
Today's the day ....................... for a rose blip
I haven't ever done a rose blip - and if you were only going to allow me one - it would be this one. It's a rose in my garden called Rhapsody in Blue. It has irridescent purple, sweetly scented flowers that fade to slate blue. It's in flower quite early this year - normally you would have to wait until the end of June.
It was Rose of the Year in 2003 when it first appeared. It had created a great deal of excitement around the world in rose trials because back then it was the closest that anyone had got to producing a blue rose. This is the ultimate challenge for rose growers apparently.
Personally, I would always settle for a purple rose ..................
